Matthias Wittenburg

Matthias Wittenburg
Managing Partner

Following over 25 years in international banking, he founded a corporate consulting firm in 2017 with the aim of assisting medium-sized enterprises in their quest to secure investors or successors. Over time he realised how inefficient these processes tend to be. This motivated him to create COMPANYLINKS in 2018.

Following initial banking training Matthias obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Cardiff University. He is also a graduate of the Oxford Advanced Leadership and Management Programme (OALMP) at the Saïd Business School and took part in the 129th Baden-Baden Entrepreneurs’ Talks.

Apart from running his own business, Matthias is Chairman of the Board of diligent technology and business consulting AG and undertakes various activities on a voluntary basis, e.g. as a guest lecturer at the German Armed Forces Leadership Academy and Arbeitskreis Evangelischer Unternehmer, as well as being the Honorary Consul to the Republic of Namibia in Hamburg.

Jens Goldbeck

Jens Goldbeck

Jens Goldbeck is Chief Operating Officer at COMPANYLINKS. He focuses on running the overall business, taking care of information security and developing business processes.

He has almost 20 years of professional experience in banking, ten of which he spend in management positions, with a strong focus on business management and supervisory matters. After graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Hanover, he began his career in the industry before working in various areas of business at Commerzbank AG in Frankfurt. Most recently he has

held senior positions in Sales and Product Management as well as Compliance at Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB).

Jens has a degree in Banking Operations from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and is a certified data protection and information security officer.

What he likes about COMPANYLINKS: The focused development of digital services in a challenging technical and regulatory environment.

Dr. Ing. Klaus Lesker
Partner

Dr. Klaus Lesker is Managing Partner at DIAG Deutsche Industrieanlagen AG.

He previously held long-term managerial positions in industrial companies, for example on the executive board of MPC Investment, as Chairman of Ferrostaal GmbH, and as a member of the executive board of subsidiaries of Fresenius and Lurgi.

After studying and completing a PhD at RWTH Aachen University, he began working as an engineer for Krupp Uhde.

Helmut Olivier

Helmut Olivier
Partner

Helmut Olivier has over 30 years’ experience in international banking. He previously worked for JP Morgan, CSFB and Lehman Brothers in New York, London and Frankfurt managing numerous business divisions in securities trading and capital markets with corporate clients. Helmut was a member of the management board at Lehman Brothers Bankhaus AG since 1998. After the parent company went into insolvency, he oversaw the liquidation of the German subsidiary over a period of almost 10 years, achieving an insolvency dividend of 100%.

In addition, Helmut was a member of the supervisory board of the Eurex exchange and a member of the board of the Association of Foreign Banks in Germany. He is currently Deputy Chairman of Deufol SE, a leading manufacturer of packaging for industrial products. Helmut is an investor in digitalisation companies and a consultant for a London-based company dealing in supply chain financing solutions.

He has a degree in Business Administration from Goethe University in Frankfurt.

What he likes about COMPANYLINKS: Here we use digital tools to make what tends to be a rather analogue, ‘old-world’ process better, faster and more cost-effective.

Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz

Professor Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz serves chambers of industry and commerce as well as industry associations at COMPANYLINKS.

He currently holds various positions on business-related committees. Prof. Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz has been a Member of the Board of Trustees for HASPA Hamburger Sparkasse for two decades, as well as being a member of the board of directors at Baloise AG, the Swiss parent company of Basler Versicherungs AG. Additionally he is a member of the advisory board for the Hanse Merkur Insurance Group. Furthermore he plays an important role in the worldwide network of chambers of industry and commerce. Moreover is a member of the General Council and Executive Committee of the INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE in Paris, Chairman of the Working Group of CEOs of European Chambers of Industry and Commerce, and a representative and consultant for the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

Professor Schmidt-Trenz is the Founding President of the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration (since 2004) and holds a professorial chair in Economics at the University of Hamburg (since 2008). He has been an Associate Professor at Saarland University since 2000. He completed his degree in Economics there and at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. His academic interests focus on international economic relations, the economics of the third sector, and economic analysis of law.

Professor Schmidt-Trenz was Chief Executive of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce from 1996 to 2017. During this time he was a member of the supervisory boards of Flughafen Hamburg GmbH and Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, a member of the board of the Northern Chamber of Industry and Commerce (from 2000) and a member of the broadcasting board of Norddeutscher Rundfunk (until 2013). Prior to that he was Managing Director of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce from 1988 to 1995, a capacity in which he oversaw facilities such as the Technologiefabrik Karlsruhe, the first entrepreneur-oriented technology centre in Germany.

Christoph Baumgärtner

At COMPANYLINKS Christoph Baumgärtner is in charge of institutional and strategic investors, consultants and vendors.

Over his 30-year career, Christoph has gained considerable project and management experience in corporate finance/M&A consulting (7 years at M.M. Warburg & CO), private equity (12 years at GBK Beteiligungen AG and HANNOVER Finanz GmbH) and as a managing partner of a medium-sized production company in the food industry following an MBI (25 million euro turnover, 150 employees).

After training as a reserve officer in the Army Reconaissance Troops and as a banker, he gained a degree in Business Administration in Göttingen and Cologne.

He participated in the 117th Baden-Baden Entrepreneurs’ Talks. He is a longstanding member of the Industry Committee of the Lüneburg-Wolfsburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce and was appointed Commercial Judge at Hamburg District Court.

Ursula Blum

Ursula Blum
Accounting

Ursula Blum is responsible for accounting at COMPANYLINKS.

After training as a banker at First National City Bank in Frankfurt, she gained extensive professional experience during her decades working in the commercial sector, as an executive assistant and in financial accounting. She has worked in the disposal sector, the commercial vehicle trade, in international haulage and, most recently, at a leading manufacturer of food supplements.

She completed an evening course at the BBZ Fulda alongside her job, graduating with a degree in Business Administration CCI.

What she likes about COMPANYLINKS: Being able to take on a responsible role to support a proficient team.

Dr. Sabine Dembkowski

Dr. Sabine Dembkowski
UK Representative

Dr Sabine Dembkowski works from London, helping COMPANYLINKS to establish and expand its presence in the UK.

She has over 20 years’ professional experience in international strategy and management consulting as an executive coach and board advisor and as a freelance entrepreneur.

Her roles have taken her from the Ford Motor Company, A.T. Kearney and the Monitor Company to the London Business School and two self-founded consulting firms with an emphasis on executive coaching and board audits in demanding M&A situations and private equity environments.

Sabine studied Business Administration in Cologne and has a PhD from the Bristol Business School in England.

Dr Heinrich Werner Goltz

Dr. Heinrich-Werner Goltz
Senior Relationship Manager

Dr Goltz manages COMPANYLINKS’ business relationships with law firms, especially those focusing on insolvency law.

He worked as a lawyer and partner of the law firm LEBUHN & PUCHTA for over 30 years, with a focus on corporate law, M&A and financing. In 2018 the Handelsblatt included him in its list of the best lawyers in Germany for mergers and acquisitions.

After training as a banker in Frankfurt am Main, Dr Goltz studied Law at the universities of Mannheim and Freiburg, completing his studies with a state law exam and a doctorate in Economics.

What he likes about COMPANYLINKS: Being able to participate in the development of a much-needed digital platform.

Axel Hochgesand
Principal

At COMPANYLINKS Axel Hochgesand is in charge of institutional and strategic investors, consultants and vendors.

For more than 25 years, Axel has worked on successful national and international Private Equity & M&A transactions.

After completing his training in Foreign Trade and Studies in Business Administration he held various positions at BHF Bank (Industrie-Beteiligungs-Gesellschaft) and Deutsche Bank (DB Investor), where he successfully led Businesses through Private Equity transactions. As a next step in his career he was responsible for many national and international financial advisory mandates during his time at Arthur D. Little Capital Partners, CinCap International and CORFINA AG.

What he likes about COMPANYLINKS: It gives an answer to Digitization in the field of M&A which is long overdue. Through professional digital matching the chances are much higher to fulfil the current challenges of many companies.

Georg Holzach
Marketing

Georg Holzach works on websites, social media profiles and lead campaigns to reach out for company owners who would offer equity for fresh capital from investors.

He has been doing marketing for Regiepast Media Production for years, as well as moderating top level conferences of companies, associations and trade fairs on topics like digitalization, medtec, biotec, energy, mobility, education and politics.

Georg used to host 14 tv formats in German networks for large national, regional and special interest audiences. As a lecturer at ten different schools of higher education he developed a video feedback training method, that leads managers to come across stronger.

What he likes about COMAPNYLINS: Being able to help companies and their jobs to survive and grow through times of crisis and change.

Panja Lützenkirchen

Panja Lützenkirchen is responsible for onboarding our MBI candidates.

She conducts structured interviews in which she discusses the candidates’ expectations, interests, knowledge and capabilities in order to identify eligible matches for suitable companies.

After training as a banker, Panja earned a degree in Business Administration with a focus on international management, HR and business psychology from the University of Hamburg.

She worked at Dresdner Bank in Hamburg and Frankfurt for 11 years, and at DaimlerChrysler in Stuttgart, where she held positions related to HR marketing and executive management development. Following that, she dedicated herself entirely to her role as ‘family manager’.

Tobias Pelzer

Tobias Pelzer
North Rhine-Westphalia Representative

Tobias Pelzer is the owner of the medium-sized consultancy firm Unternehmerbrücke and a small logistics company. At COMPANYLINKS he attends to the needs of associated companies, strategic investors and sellers.

In 2011 Tobias sold a fifth-generation family-run food business with 120 employees which he had previously headed to a strategic buyer. Previously, he was Managing Director of two companies in Singapore and Hamburg, a member of the M&A team for an MDAX industrial company, and worked for Treuhandanstalt. Thanks to this experience, he is well-versed in transfers of undertakings and takeovers and familiar with both sides of the equation. Since 2011 he has provided extensive advice on corporate transactions several times a year, focusing on the interface between larger groups and medium-sized companies.

Tobias is an industrial engineer (TU Berlin), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Negotiator (EBS) and Interim Executive (EBS).

What he likes about COMPANYLINKS: That now medium-sized companies are generally sold just once, and more effectively.

Dr. Magnus Sedlmayr

Switzerland Representative

Dr Magnus Sedlmayr assists COMPANYLINKS with establishing and extending its presence in Switzerland.

He has more than 30 years of professional experience in international banking, as a CFO in major corporations and as a freelance entrepreneur.

His career has taken him from Goldman Sachs and the Bankers Trust to what is now E.ON and two self-founded companies focusing on M&A, private equity, financing and renewable energy.

He is an active member of the Board of Directors at a Swiss medium-sized holding and a Swiss hedge fund.

Magnus has a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of St Gallen, an MBA from the University of Chicago and a PhD in Economics from the University of Budapest.

Max von Spoercken

Max von Spoercken
Relationship Manager

Max von Spoercken manages customer support at COMPANYLINKS. He focuses on working with our wide-ranging network of consultants.

He worked in his family’s business for a number of years where he was responsible for operational business at golf and hotel facilities. Prior to that he acquired experience in private equity, for example by working at the investment bank Lazard in Argentina and at a Hamburg-based fintech company.

Max trained as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant before pursuing a BSc in Business and Management at the University of Buckingham.

What he likes about COMPANYLINKS: Identifying the different interests of sellers and buyers of companies and being able to link them up efficiently.

Julius Wittenburg

At COMPANYLINKS Julius Wittenburg supervises and develops the website. Additionally he performs a wide range of data analysis to support the team.

Currently he is a full time apprentice at an international wholesaler in Hamburg.

She worked at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and New York for 12 years, including in the areas of equity research and issues trading for equity and borrowed capital (syndications).

Following her training in banking, Sabine gained a degree in Business Administration with a focus on international finance at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and at the Stern School of Business at New York University.

What she likes about COMPANYLINKS: That as a team we form a great pool of both professional and life experience.

CHO (Chief Happiness Officer)

As our CHO, Amy has the very important task of ensuring a good atmosphere at COMPANYLINKS. Her full-on charm and refreshing sense of humour means that she can always get her colleagues on her side.

She has also obtained special qualifications in patient listening, swapping toys for food, bag checks and sock theft. She fulfils her duties with the utmost determination.

Amy studied boundless enthusiasm and honed her tireless instinct for play at Bark University, Labrador Islands, and has a Master’s degree in learning new tricks. In her free time Amy likes jogging, swimming and chasing things.
